Mentored Research Training Program

The Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research is seeking applicants for the NIH CTSA KL2 Mentored Clinical Scholars Program. This program appointing cycle is available to candidates from all healthcare-related schools and clinical departments who have agreement from their Department Chairs to provide scholarship funding in exchange for clinical/translational research training and career development under the CTSA Education, Mentoring, and Career Development Program.

Appointed scholars are expected to obtain 75% (50% for surgical subspecialties) protected funding from their clinical departments to be utilized for participation in a training program in clinical/translational research. As a KL2 Scholar, trainees will have protected time to focus on conducting clinical research, as well as:

  • Access to a training curriculum in clinical and translational research methodology and specialized training seminars,
  • Assistance in the selection of appropriate specialized courses,
  • Assistance in the assembly and implementation of a multidisciplinary mentoring team,
  • Individualized career development and project-related guidance from the trainee's own appointed scientific advisory committee,
  • Have access to the MICHR professional services and staff who will aid the scholar in the writing of additional grants, including the scholars' own K-series award,
  • Participation in the national KL2 annual meeting in Washington,
  • National exposure
