PIBS 507: Introduction to Translational Research
Tuesdays, 4-5 PM, following the seminar
PIBS 507 is a graduate-level course directed principally at pre-doctoral students in the basic sciences, with possible enrollment by undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, or health care professionals with prior approval (see Fellow and Faculty Policy).
Following each seminar, students will participate in a closed discussion with the speaker and course directors. In addition, 3 or 4 weekly research seminars are replaced by lectures on didactic material central to the translational research discipline. See the Calendar for a list of dates, speakers and topics.
The Teaching Objectives for PIBS 507 are:
-Definition and scope of translational research (bench to bedside and back)
-Components of a translational research project (team science)
-Principles of translational research (technical approach and design)
-Practical considerations in developing translational research projects (regulatory, legal, etc.)
-Applications and opportunities in translational research (getting started) |
