Biostatistics and Measurement Core

The Biostatistics and Measurement Core (BMC) provides state-of-the-art knowledge, service, education and methodology in the areas of biostatistics and outcomes measurement.

We want to:

  • increase access to design, measurement and analysis input, expertise and collaboration in clinical and translational research projects.
  • contribute to the education of clinical and translational researchers in statistical methods, experimental design and scientific inference
  • build a strong, versatile and accessible biostatistics core of faculty and staff supporting clinical and translational research at the University of Michigan
  • contribute to the administration of the CTSA

Who we are:

The following members of the faculty and staff are associated with BMC:

Trivellore Raghunathan(Raghu), Ph.D.

How it works

Consultation
Faculty and staff are available to provide design, measurement and analysis consultation on intramural pilot grant proposals, extramural grant proposals, and funded pilot grant proposals. We can also collaborate with researchers on extramurally funded projects as co-investigators with appropriate salary coverage for faculty and staff.

Education
The BMC organizes short courses and participates in other CTSA related educational and mentoring activities.

Research
The BMC faculty and staff contribute statistical and measurement methodological expertise relevant to CTSA activities.

Administration
Individuals serve on CTSA administrative boards, pilot grant proposal review, monitoring/oversight, DSMBs, etc.

BMC Services

The BMC facilitates identifying co-investigates for externally funded projects. In addition we can provide:

  • Pre-award consultation
  • design
  • analysis
  • Post-award consultation
  • analysis services
  • interpretation of results
  • assistance with manuscript preparation
  • Data Management for studies

Getting Help

The best way to work with the BMC is to establish a long-term collaboration with a biostatistical co-investigator. Please contact Jamie Myles, Core Manager (below). Another common way to access the BMC for pre-award assistance is through the Research Development Core (734) 998-7474.
