Postdoctoral Translational Scholars Program

The Postdoctoral Translational Scholars Program (PTSP) is a unique career development award mechanism designed to recognize future translational scientists.  The PTSP is a multidisciplinary career development program supported by MICH-R which is designed to prepare individuals with a PhD in a biomedical scientific or social science discipline for independent careers in translational research.

Individuals with PhD degrees who are interested in obtaining additional training in translational sciences are encouraged to apply for this unique funding opportunity which will provide trainees with a $100,000 career development award that can be utilized over 2-3 years.

The Scholar’s training program will be tailored based on the individual’s unique needs, but will include the opportunity to pursue a variety of educational offerings such as a clinical immersion experience; didactic course work in regulation sciences and research ethics, biostatistics and/or specialty electives relating to their field of interest.  Scholars will be required to complete a translational research practicum. All Scholars will have a cross disciplinary mentoring team designed to assist them with their career development and translational project.  Award funding can be used to support the individual’s stipend, course work, and/or research activities. Postdoctoral Translational Scholars will be expected to commit 50 to 75% of full time effort to the program.

Goals of the PTSP Program
The PTSP program is designed to accelerate career progression in clinical and translational research of basic scientists who have demonstrated a commitment to translational research.
