U-M Study Shows MICHR Positively Affects Grant Funding Rate for Investigators

MICHR is one of about 60 NIH-funded Clinical & Translational Science Award (CTSA) institutes. Studies have shown that CTSA program has made an appreciable impact on clinical and translational science, but they did not examine the effects of a CTSA on grant success in an institution.
The authors of a study recently published in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Research, the official journal of the Association for Clinical and Translantional Science, showed that MICHR had a positive and statistically significant relationship with grant funding success.
MICHR’s infrastructure, created to enable and enhance clinical and translational research, has also created positive spillovers for a broader spectrum of research and grant success.
The study was led by Felichism W. Kabo, PhD, of the Institute for Social Research,.and George A. Mashour, MD, PhD, Director of MICHR.
