MICHR is developing the Applied Biostatistical Sciences (ABS) Network to provide an environment for statisticians and analysts at U-M to interact, share techniques, and collaborate. We’ll do this through online resources, face-to-face meetings, and other activities.

This program is aimed at students currently enrolled in any health-related professional degree program. It is designed to introduce students in health-related professional degree programs to research early in their course of study,

MICHR is offering a free course for current K-grant awardees, focusing on responsible conduct of research (RCR). This series will help participants identify and address RCR issues in their own research and will satisfy related requirements of the NIH K23 application. Participants will receive mentoring from faculty experienced in RCR areas.

Participants in this program will learn how to better coach and counsel other less-experienced mentors as well as enhance their own interpersonal skills for mutually beneficial mentor-mentee interactions. Applications are due December 20.

The HomeLab, housed within the U-M BioSocial Methods Collaborative, looks and feels like a complete apartment. But unlike a home, the lab is outfitted with technology that allows researchers to observe how people live their lives.

Since 2014, the NIH has been working on reforms to improve transparency in the human subject research it funds. As part of this process, the agency released a revised definition of “clinical trial," which the University of Michigan has adopted.

A key item on the Clinical Trials Support Office’s “to do” list is transitioning currently active trials under the umbrella of their appropriate Clinical Trials Support Unit into OnCore, the new Clinical Trials Management System. The Clinical Trials Support Office will be partnering with investigators and their teams between October 2017 and July 2018 to migrate non-oncology clinical trials, and oncology trials will begin migrating later in 2018.

This workshop for faculty will address this challenge by teaching the importance of value propositions and communicating research in a way that makes it compelling for every audience.

Seven faculty members who contribute enormously to the research environment at U-M have been honored with the 2017 Distinguished Clinical and Translational Research Mentor Award.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Postdoctoral Translational Scholars Program (PTSP). This program is open to individuals with PhD degrees in biomedical science, engineering or social science disciplines who are interested in additional training in translational sciences.
