What is this service?

MCRU clinical staff trained in research specific clinical competencies will be available to collect blood and urine samples and perform EKGs within the hospital campus. This includes the Taubman Center, CS Mott Children’s Hospital, Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, Cancer Center, Cardiovascular Center, University Hospital, Rachel Upjohn Building, Burlington Building, Dominos Farms, and East Ann Arbor and West Ann Arbor Medical Campuses. Collected samples will be brought to the MCRU laboratory for processing, shipment or storage for up to 3 months in MCRU freezers. Clinical and laboratory supplies are provided. Sample collection and EKGs will be documented by MCRU staff in a MiChart research encounter.

For “community engagement” visits off the Michigan Medicine campus: MCRU clinical staff trained in research-specific clinical competencies will be available to collect blood and urine samples and perform EKGs outside the medical campus but within 60 miles of the U-M Hospital. Collected samples will be brought to the MCRU laboratory for processing, shipment or storage for up to three months in MCRU freezers. Clinical and laboratory supplies are provided. Sample collection and EKGs will be documented by MCRU staff in a MiChart research encounter.

This service does not include vitals or other measurements.

Who can use this service?

Any investigator with an MCRU-approved protocol may use this service.

When should I contact MICHR about this service?

Please contact us to inquire about MCRU2U services before IRB submission. This will help you avoid future amendments and will also allow you to gain a better understanding of the service as it pertains to your research study.

How much does this service cost?

MCRU2U in the community costs $90 per hour.

MCRU2U in the hospital costs $45 per hour.
