Learn the Basics of Budgeting for Research Grants at MICHR Workshop

A principal investigator (the project director) has primary responsibility for budget planning for a new proposal. The budget should not only translate the science into numbers but it should also be reasonable, allocable, allowable, and consistently applied.

Join MICHR for two interactive back-to-back workshops presenting basics of budgeting for research grants. Learn how to calculate indirect costs, determine calendar months for effort, complete other budget components, and write a budget justification. We will also talk about how to monitor your expenses after you are awarded and the closeout (FFR) process.

We will spend the first hour (2-3 p.m.) talking about the research budgets in general and the second hour (3-4 p.m.) digging into more details and completing a real NIH budget. Feel free to attend either session or both sessions.

This workshop is intended for early career investigators applying for any of MICHR awards or putting in a new proposal but is open for all interested.

This event is scheduled Wednesday, November 16 from 2-4 p.m. in North Campus Research Complex Building 300, Room 376. Register for this free workshop here.
